Who can join, how to apply and confirming your identity
Most people in the UK can join Capital Credit Union. It takes a few minutes.
Who can join?
You can usually join if any of these apply:
- you're employed in the UK, full-time, part-time or self-employed
- you've retired from an eligible UK occupation and receive a private pension
- you live in the same household as a member
- you're a member of one of our listed organisations, such as Scottish football clubs, trade unions and other partner organisations
- you're applying for Golf Membership Finance or Season Ticket Finance through one of our partners

How to join
- Online: apply from your phone or computer in a few minutes, on our join page. If you're applying for a loan, you can join and apply at the same time.
- At our office: 31 Dunedin Street, Edinburgh, EH7 4JG. No appointment needed. We're open Monday to Thursday, 10am to 4pm, and Friday, 10am to 3pm.
Confirming your identity
Most people are verified automatically when they apply, with nothing to send us. Sometimes we need a document or two. If so, we'll text you a secure link to ID-Pal, the service we use to collect documents. See I've received a text asking me to submit ID. Is it genuine?
Once you're a member
Your Instant Access Share Account is opened automatically. You can then save, borrow when you need to, and register for the app and online banking. See How do I register for the app or online banking?
