I’ve received a text message asking me to submit ID – is this legitimate?
We may occasionally send secure links to request identification as part of an application process.
In some cases, such as certain lending applications or membership applications, we may need to carry out additional identity verification.
When this is required, Capital Credit Union uses a secure third-party service called IDPal.
IDPal is a trusted digital identity verification platform that allows you to safely submit identification documents online. If you have been asked to provide ID using IDPal, this request will only relate to an application you have already made with us.
The text message or email will include a secure link that directs you to the IDPal service to complete the verification process.
If you are unsure whether a message is genuine, or if you were not expecting to be asked for identification, please do not click the link. Instead, contact us directly using the contact details on our website and a member of the team will be happy to check this for you.
Capital Credit Union will never ask you to share your online banking password or full security details by text or email.
