How can I repay my loan?

Regular repayments, extra payments and paying off your loan early

The ways you can repay depend on the type of loan you have.

Regular repayments

Direct Debit. Our standard method, for Personal Loans, Green Loans and Loyalty Loans. Your repayment is taken from your bank account on the agreed date.

Benefits. Some loans can be repaid from benefits such as Child Benefit, Universal Credit or Adult Disability Payment. This is available for Personal Loans, Loyalty Loans and Family Loans. When your benefit is paid to us, we take the agreed repayment and send the rest back to you on the same day.

Payroll deduction. If you work for one of our partner employers, you may be able to repay straight from your salary. This is available for Personal Loans, Green Loans, Loyalty Loans and the Christmas Payroll Loan. Your employer sends the repayment to us and we apply it to your loan.

Your repayment amount and term are set out in your loan agreement.

Making an extra payment

You can pay extra into your loan at any time. There are no charges for overpaying, unless your loan agreement says otherwise.

In the app or online banking:

  1. Select Debit Card Deposit and follow the steps. The money goes into your Instant Access Share Account.
  2. Move it into your loan account yourself, or send us a secure message asking us to move it for you.

By phone: call us on 0131 225 9901. We'll take the payment and put it straight into your loan.

Paying off your loan early

You can pay off your loan in full at any time. There are no early repayment charges, unless your loan agreement says otherwise.

The amount to settle changes with your balance and the date you pay, so get an up-to-date settlement figure first. Send us a secure message or call us on 0131 225 9901, and we'll give you the figure and explain how to pay it.

Changing how you repay

If you're not sure which method applies to your loan, or you want to change it, send us a secure message or call us.

If you're finding your repayments difficult, contact us as early as possible. Our Worried about money? page explains how we can help.
