How do I check my balance?
See your savings and loan balances and recent transactions in the app or online banking
The quickest way to check your balance is in the app or online banking. Your balances update as money goes in and out.
In the app or online banking
- Log in. Your savings and loan balances are on the home screen, the first thing you see.
- To see what's gone in and out, select the account and go to Transactions.
You can also use Transactions to check whether a payment has arrived, or to download a statement. See How do I get a statement?
Why is my balance lower than I expected?
- £1 minimum balance. £1 must always stay in your Instant Access Share Account.
- Money held for a loan. Some loans need a minimum balance to stay in your savings, and if your loan is secured against your savings, such as a Loyalty Loan, some of your savings are held until it's repaid. See How do I withdraw my savings?
- A payment still on its way. Payments into your account can arrive later in the working day. See I was due an automatic payment but it has not arrived
Paying off a loan
Your loan balance in the app isn't always the amount to pay it off in full, as that depends on the date you pay. Ask us for a settlement figure: see How can I repay my loan?
Can't get online?
- New to the app? See How do I register for the app or online banking?
- Having trouble logging in? See I can't log in. What do I do?
Junior and corporate accounts don't have online access. For these, or if you can't get online, call us on 0131 225 9901 and we'll tell you your balance once we've confirmed who you are.
For your security, we can't share your balance by email or live chat.
